地点:图书室五层学术报告厅

内容:

The development of new functional coatings, sensors, and materials science in general are increasingly dependant on the use of nanomaterials. Over the past 10 years, our team’s research efforts have been directed towards the development of robust, low cost materials that incorporate nanoparticles or nanostructured materials that are capable of serving a wide variety of advanced materials applications. Our work is driven by the technological demands of industry, whilst simultaneously being guided by insights discovered at the nanoscale. Our focus is on utilizing functional nanoscale building blocks and applying them to real world challenges, with our efforts concentrated in key areas of novel protection coatings for metals, sensor applications, and improving the performance of 3D metal printing.  Here we explore materials design, the fundamental properties of small organic molecules, metal, semiconductor and carbon colloidal quantum dots for embedded applications. We will present some of our recent achievements in nanomaterials and chemistry in the context of these above mentioned fields, and a number of case studies will be highlighted.

个人简介:

Dr Andrian Trinchi is a senior research scientist and the team leader of the Functional Powders team in the Metal Industries program at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia's national research laboratory. He received bachelor degrees in science and engineering from the university of Melbourne and a PhD degree from RMIT University, Melbourne. Since joining CSIRO in 2005, his research has largely focused on the development of nanomaterials and functional molecules for embedded sensing applications. This includes materials such as fluorescent semiconductor and carbon-based quantum dots, magnetic nanoparticles, small organometallic ligands, and functional metal powders for use in additive manufacturing (3D printing).
